What is a Nanny Share? (Part 1)

A nanny share for a nanny will be very rewarding. It will be challenging and most certainly harder work than being in one family. It will provide variety to a working week and help to gain a lot more experience with different aged children and their needs. It will certainly improve your communication skills and definitely give you good credit on your CV for future nanny jobs. (more…)

Concerns Over Ofsted Registration of Nannies

For many years now, we have been deeply concerned about the lack of checks done by Ofsted when nannies apply to be registered.

Just to give you more history on this, the nanny registration scheme was set up to allow parents the opportunity to use their childcare vouchers when employing nannies. Previously parents had only been able to use the vouchers to pay for places at nurseries or childminders. (more…)

My Nanny’s Trip to the Science Musuem

I was working in London yesterday, and my nanny took my 2 sons to the Science Museum with another nanny and 2 boys.

I caught the train home with them at the end of the day. I did feel for all the serious commuters trying to have some peace and quiet, with 4 boys under the age of 6 loudly discussing the fake poo they saw at the Museum. (more…)

Sleep Deprivation with a Newborn

Sleep deprivation is something that all parents suffer from at some point. With a newborn baby, you sort of expect it, but you hope that in the not-too-distant future, your lovely baby will sleep through the night. However, it is not always the case.

I am happy to say that my boys are pretty good sleepers now, but that hasn’t always been the case. And now my brother and sister-in-law are really suffering, as their toddler has never slept through the night. He sleeps in the same room as them because of lack of space in their house, so when he is up, they are both up.

I watched with interest the Channel 4 documentary Who Knows Best about two sleep experts who have different approaches to helping families get their children to sleep through the night. (more…)
