I read an article in the Telegraph last weekend that said a third of parents sleep in separate beds due to the unsettled sleep patterns of their child(ren).

Professional Nanny of the Year

My time as Professional Nanny of the Year has come to an end, and a new nanny has been nominated – congratulations to Julie Daniels. The award has meant a great deal to me. I have always wanted to be a nanny since I was very small and still feel that way now 10 years on! I love every aspect of being a nanny as everyday is different… not always easy as every job brings its own challenges.  But being a nanny is very rewarding and a role I love. (more…)

Sleep Deprivation with a Newborn

Sleep deprivation is something that all parents suffer from at some point. With a newborn baby, you sort of expect it, but you hope that in the not-too-distant future, your lovely baby will sleep through the night. However, it is not always the case.

I am happy to say that my boys are pretty good sleepers now, but that hasn’t always been the case. And now my brother and sister-in-law are really suffering, as their toddler has never slept through the night. He sleeps in the same room as them because of lack of space in their house, so when he is up, they are both up.

I watched with interest the Channel 4 documentary Who Knows Best about two sleep experts who have different approaches to helping families get their children to sleep through the night. (more…)
