Books!

As a child, I loved reading and creative writing and I can only hope that, so far, I’ve succeeded in transferring that love onto my children.

It certainly seems to be working.  My son is convinced he’s going to be a famous author one day (he wants to write a story about marine zombies) and my daughter tells me that she wants to live in ‘multi-coloured and glitter’ world, where fairies fly around, the grass is pink, there are permanent rainbows in the sky and she can eat her dinner from a cake tree! Taking Children to the Library

One activity that I love to do as a nanny is visiting our local library. We go at least once every 3 weeks. J often asks to go to the library and I find it a really useful and easy activity to do with 2 children under 3. J and I sit and read the books whilst M crawls around destroying the neatly stacked shelves! (more…)

Children’s World Book Day

J had his 1st World Book Day at Nursery a few weeks ago. Being 3 years old and a girl, I knew instantly what character she was going to be and which book she was going to take… A BALLERINA and her favourite book “HOW TO BE A BALLERINA”! (more…)

The Benefits of Reading from a Young Age

As a nanny, I make a point of spending time every day reading with my charges. A child is never too young to enjoy books. Reading with a child provides quality time with them, developing bonds and usually one to one quiet time where the children can be calm, relaxed and also have your full attention. (more…)
