Dividing Love Between Siblings

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

These days, it’s fairly normal to expect that most couples wanting a family will have two, maybe three children, and with news that the population is expanding at an alarming and potentially unsustainable rate, this seems like a very sensible idea. (more…)

When 2 Nannies Are Better Than One

Monday, July 18th, 2011

I was interviewed recently by the Daily Mail to comment on the fact that Anna Friel was reported to have hired 2 nannies for her 1 child. I got the feeling that they were looking for a negative reaction from me to this story, but it is not unusual for parents to hire 2 nannies.  (more…)

Working with an Employer on Maternity Leave

Working Mum’s Dilemmas (Part 1)

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

I have been working from my home office this week. Even though no-one believes me, I work best when working from home as there are no “office” distractions – no people coming in and out, no meetings booked in, etc. I do have to get up and make my own tea every now and then though!   (more…)

Guilt as a Working Mum

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Like all working mums I do feel the guilt of not always being there for my children.

When my 3 yr old boy recently broke his collar bone I was 300 miles away in Manchester. I felt awful when I finally got home at 11pm to see this tiny boy lying in bed with a sling, moaning in his sleep from the pain.

It’s at times like this that I do think I should stay at home, but I love my work, and that makes me a happier person, and when I am with my children, I really relish it and make the most of it.
