The Younger Baby Room
The L-shaped baby room is a cosy place in the Nursery offering a relaxed and calm environment for upto 6 babies aged between 6 weeks-12 months. All the children are cared for in a loving environment and regular observations are made under the guidance of the Early Years Framework and varied and imaginative activities are planned accordingly for each individual child.
There are many toys and activities within the room to encourage learning and development, and a cosy sleeping room can be accessed from the baby room. All routines within the baby room are mirrored as closely as possible to routines followed at home.
The babies take regular strolls in the garden and enjoy interaction with other children in the Nursery garden. During warmer weather with parental permission the babies are taken for strolls around Stokenchurch village and on sunny days the babies enjoy the outside environment with activities and toys on soft blankets.
The Older Baby Room
The Older Baby Room is linked to the Baby Room via the sleeping area. The room is a bright, spacious and colourful area containing an assortment of toys, books and equipment easily accessible to the babies making independent choice possible. Soft play, cuddles, stories and most importantly lots of fun, all form part of the babys day. Key carers under the watchful eye of the Room Leader encourage babies to explore the world of colour, shape and texture and help them in their first steps towards language development.
For 1-2 year olds, walking and talking opens up a whole new world. The discovery of new sounds and objects, mark making, experimenting with paint, sand, water and learning to share with others will all be encouraged and supported. Ride-on toys, construction and a wide variety of activities are provided on a daily basis all of which are tailored to the individual needs of the babies in the room.
Daily visits to the garden area encourage a natural curiosity in the outside world and planting bulbs and digging in the garden support this.
The Toddler Room
In the happy and fun atmosphere of the Toddler Room children can begin to learn independence and increase their knowledge of the world. Painting, singing, memory games, numbers and letters, are introduced to form the foundation for Pre-school work. In the Toddler Room the staff encourage children to share, take turns and to develop a love of books, stories and music with a weekly visit from Tiny Mites which is always a fun and lively session.
The room is divided into several different areas allowing the children to access role play, creative activities, small world play, sand and water or to sit quietly in the cushioned book area. Outside play takes place every day whatever the weather, and they are certainly not afraid to get just a little bit messy.
Key carers are assigned to each child and are available for parents to share information and to be able to catch up with each child?s daily activities or Early Years Development. They pride themselves on there partnership with parents and will always have time to chat about each child.
The Pre-School Room
The Pre-school Room Leader is a newly qualified teacher who is committed to providing the best learning opportunities possible, she is supported by enthusiastic and caring members of staff. In the Pre-school years, children?s concentration increases and they are ready to respond to the challenges of teamwork and group activities. There priority is to make learning a fun, exciting and enjoyable experience.
The extensive range of educational equipment and toys are chosen to develop language, intellect and imagination. The nursery teachers and education programme teaches the children the principles of reading, writing and arithmetic and prepares them for the transition to school, working on all elements of the Early Years Foundation stage. They work closely alongside the Early Years framework and provide the best possible range of activities and learning opportunities that reflect each child on a personal level through a Key Person approach.
The Pre-school room is a large and airy room and allows for a variety of activities to be available at all times, therefore providing many opportunities for learning. The room has a door that opens onto the garden area, and a free-flow system operates within the room whenever possible.
