Normally work an 11-12 hour day, Monday to Friday, together with 2 nights babysitting included.
A live in nanny can be in sole charge of the children and you would normally perform "nursery duties" i.e. doing the children's washing and ironing, keeping their rooms tidy, clearing away the toys, cooking for the children and clearing up in the kitchen afterwards. Most nannies should not do extra domestic duties, as they are primarily childcarers.
Normally work a 10 hour day, Monday to Friday. A live out nanny does not normally do babysitting unless this is agreed in advance, and this should be paid as extra.
As a live out nanny you can be in sole charge of the children and normally you would perform "nursery duties" i.e. doing the children's washing and ironing, keeping their rooms tidy, clearing away the toys, cooking for the children and clearing up in the kitchen afterwards.
A Mothers Help can be live in or live out. You do the same sort of hours as a nanny however the difference between a mothers help and a nanny is that as a mothers help you do not yet have enough experience to be left in constant sole charge of children.
This type of position suits someone who is newly qualified or who does not have much experience working with children. You normally work alongside the mother, caring for the children. You are not a cleaner, and so are not expected to do household duties, but you may be required to do light duties such as the family shopping, or loading and unloading the family washing. These duties should be discussed in advance with you.
