Course:

CACHE level 3 Diploma for children and young peoples services (QCF)

Duration:

Each of the 3 Modules takes approximately 4 months to complete making the total course length approximately 12 months dependent on learner. However, as the course is home study, online learners can take a break between Modules to allow for other commitments, if desired.

Course Content:

This course has been developed by the CWDC and replaces all existing Level 3 childcare qualifications including the NVQ 3 CCLD, the DCE (Diploma in Childcare & Education) and the Diploma in Home-Based Childcare (DHC).

Tinies Training offers this course nationally to delegates whom wish to pursue a career within the childcare sector.  You must be employed/ voluntarily working in an Ofsted registered childcare establishment for a minimum of 18 hours per week and be aged over 16 years old.

The course can be studied online or as a paper-based portfolio to suit the learner providing them with regular interaction with their assessor, as well as allowing them to watch factual videos and enables them to organise their work in one place without having to carry a heavy portfolio. All learners have one to one support from an allocated assessor who will visit their workplace setting as required.

Course:

CACHE level 4 Certificate in Managing quality Standards in Children's Services

Duration:

It requires 60 guided learning hours. If you are studying the course part-time, dependent on learner estimated 1 years commitment.

Course Content:

This qualification shows you how to achieve the highest possible quality standards by critically evaluating the quality standards process. You can take it if:

• you are a qualified practitioner who has a Level 3 qualification
• you are a qualified practitioner who is responsible for preparing the setting for accredited quality assurance schemes or statutory inspections
• you are a qualified practitioner who is responsible for assuring quality in your workplace
• you are a qualified practitioner who is interested in progressing into this area of work

It is an excellent way to develop your career. Designed in partnership with the National Day Nurseries Association, it teaches you how to apply for quality assurance schemes and how to prepare for the most stringent of statutory inspections. It examines these across a range of settings.

The course is theoretical and practical. Assignments focus on real-life situations like preparing for an inspection in two month’s time. You will learn about managing staff before, during and after the inspection process. You will also learn how to analyse your own and your organisation’s training needs, so that you can develop training programmes.

By the end of the course, you will have gained the skills to raise the quality of practice in your workplace!

What's involved?
The qualification is made up of two units. You must pass both units to get the full certificate.

Unit 1 - Establishing, improving and maintaining quality standards in Children's Services
This unit increases your understanding of the principles underpinning quality assurance. It helps you to establish, improve and maintain these standards. You will also evaluate different accredited quality assurance schemes.

Unit 2 - Managing the statutory inspection process in Children's Services
This unit explores how to manage an inspection - the impact that it has and how its outcomes influence future practice. You will also consider the contribution made by individual staff members, as well as the importance of professional development in ensuring best practice.

Do I need to have any other qualifications before I start the course?
Yes, you must have an appropriate Level 3 qualification. You must also be an experienced practitioner who is employed or working as a volunteer in a setting for children and/or young people.

Course:

CACHE level 5 Diploma in Leadership for health & social care and children and young peoples services (England) (QCF)

Duration:

Dependent on learner (estimated 1 year commitment).

Course Content:

This qualification provides learners with the skills and knowledge needed to manage practice and lead others in adult health and social care provision or in children and young people’s services. It has six pathways - three for those working with adults and three for those working with children and young people - and covers a wide range of topics including:

• Safeguarding and protection
• Managing care services
• Supporting development and partnership working
• Contributing to broader activities such as change programmes and recruitment
• Complying with quality systems and continuously improving quality
• Developing and carrying out policy
• Promoting and developing best practice
• Care management

The Management pathways are most suitable for Assistant Managers and Deputy Managers working in day or domiciliary services who are looking to progress their career. It is also appropriate for Managers who have not yet achieved a vocational qualification at this level.

The Residential Services pathways are aimed at learners in similar job roles as those taking the Management pathways but the focus is on management and care in residential settings.

The Advanced Practice pathways are geared towards senior practitioners who would like to develop their career but wish to remain active practitioners within the management framework.

Entry requirements and experience in real work environments

Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification but learners will need to be at least 18 years of age. It is also recommended that they will hold a Level 3 qualification or above in a related area.

Work in a real work environment
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.

Assessment
All units are internally assessed and will be pass or refer. Assessment enables the learner’s workplace practice to provide evidence for individual units as well as the whole qualification.
