To Decorate or Not to Decorate?
I seem to have this conversation with many mums at this time of year. Do you let your children decorate the tree themselves or just "help out"?
09/12/2011
If you are a bit OCD like me, then you know it would take months and months of therapy to relinquish complete control of the tree decorating.
But, at the same time, I love this time of year, and putting up the tree is one of the best bits - made even better by getting my boys involved.
This is how we decorate at Christmas:
- Buy the tree - always a laugh watching my husband wrestling it into our car. Not so funny when I have to hoover out the car later (see reference to OCD above)
- Get out the decorations
- Prevent my youngest from eating the baked decorations from last year which are growing their own eco-system
- Put the carols on the iPod (although in truth they have been playing on Repeat since 1st December)
- Have a glass of wine
- Prevent my youngest from drinking said glass of wine.
I do get my children hanging up many of the decorations
Which is probably why our collection of glass baubles is seriously depleted!
But I must confess to creeping down later in the night to re-order the tree. From conversations I have had, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only mum to do this.
