Inconvenient Birthdays!

With Christmas over and many New Year's resolutions already falling by the wayside, now should be the time to pull your belt in a notch (metaphorically speaking of course, not much chance of that happening in reality for a while) and start paying off the debts accrued by lining the pockets of Toys 'R' Us, Argos and the like

Sadly for me, I have a most inconsiderate and inconvenient family who all decided to be born at the beginning of the year.

A total of five before the 5th March in fact and one of those being a landmark birthday with a party to arrange. So out comes the credit card again, without the slightest chance of being able to repair itself poor thing.

This got me thinking about the pros and cons of different birth dates

Having a summer birthday myself, I remember thinking how good it was when my son was born in late July. This meant he would always have lovely weather (hopefully) and that feel good factor of breaking up for the summer holidays.

But on the flip side it meant he would be one of the youngest in his class when he started school. Luckily for him, school policy stated he should start at Christmas when he would be four and a half, which was perfect, but I know this has now changed and is a cause for concern for some mums.

Christmas babies

Being born on or around Christmas day must pose a few problems too (a bit like when twins complain about never having a birthday to themselves, only ten times worse, but I digress). I have no experience of this but, despite your family and friends' valiant efforts to make it special, I can only imagine that your birthday must get slightly pushed aside what with everything else going on.

I suppose there's no perfect birthday for anyone. Personally, I would like my birthday to always fall on a Saturday in the middle of a heatwave, but that's just not going to happen.

And blow me down, I've just thought of something positive about post-Christmas birthdays - the sales are on!

Tinies ran our pop up crèche throughout the Summer holidays at The Grove. From planning stages, implementation and throughout opening the staff were amazing, and we had nothing but good feedback about the way in which the facility was managed and how well looked after our guests children were. I would wholeheartedly recommend Tinies.
