Skiing Holidays - What About the Children?
Many parents give up their much enjoyed skiing holidays when their children are small - but you don't have to! A skiing holiday is a great family holiday, fun for everyone… but that's if childcare isn't a problem

Excellent childcare options are often available in ski resorts, offering quality, flexibility and reliability. Private nanny services offer the best flexibility, but it's important to check that the nannies are trained, CRB checked etc.

Nannies based at the ski resort
The great advantages is that the nannies are based in the resort.
So they know the resorts, best places to go etc. The nannies should know where to take the children for a great time in the fresh mountain air with the best sledging, snowman building, etc.
When they're tired, your Nanny would be able to take the children back to your apartment / hotel / chalet for a nap, fun and games indoors, story time, arts and crafts and some companies offer little extras. Why not get the children to produce a fantastic scrapbook throughout the week to take back and show teachers, friends and other families!
Using a private nanny service
Having a nanny on hand gives amazing flexibility. You can have a true family holiday!
- Bring the children to meet you for lunch
- Midmorning hot chocolate
- Ski lessons… and more
You are not tied to the "tour op" ski school or lesson times you choose and so long as you don't ask the impossible (like being in two places at the same time!) your nanny will fit with all your plans and bookings.
What ages can be looked after?
Most private nanny services can look after babies from 3 months old until as old as you feel your child needs a nanny!
They do daytime care to cover your skiing time but evening babysitting is also no problem. You can ski with total peace of mind instead of worrying how your children are coping in a French creche or how nanny you brought with you is coping in this new strange environment!
