Taking Children to the Library
One activity that I love to do as a nanny is visiting our local library. We go at least once every 3 weeks
23/06/2011
J often asks to go to the library and I find it a really useful and easy activity to do with 2 children under 3.
J and I sit and read the books whilst M crawls around destroying the neatly stacked shelves!
The library also offers baby rhyme time which M and I attend weekly
There is also story time for older children. They have a sticker scheme in place, where the children collect stickers every time they attend the library and once they have collected a certain amount they are rewarded with a certificate. Stickers and certificates for my girls are a big thing!
Even the process of borrowing and returning the books is fun for kids
J loves swiping the card in the machine, placing her books under the blue light and watching it record the title and unique number. She then uses the touch screen to print the receipt.
Take a trip to your local library!
So when you don't know what to do on the next rainy day (which will most likely be tomorrow), take a trip to your local library and see what they have to offer. As they are under threat from government cuts, they may not be around for much longer, so get the most out of them now.
