Early Years Teacher
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Holds full and relevant Early Years Teacher/Professional status and/or Level 6 qualification
• Possesses good knowledge of the Development Matters in the Early Years Foundation Stage and of the Statutory Requirements.
• Has an awareness of children's basic needs
• Holds appropriate Paediatric First Aid and Has undertaken child protection training
• Minimum 2 years' experience of working in an Early Years setting.
• Must have an Enhanced DBS Disclosure check

AIM OF THE JOB To take responsibility for, and oversee, the learning and development of the children within the nursery, ensuring that a stimulating and varied programme of play and learning opportunities, of the highest quality, are being delivered. To support staff in offering planned activities, a wide range of learning opportunities and follow daily routines that promote all areas of the children's development in a safe, happy and caring environment, in accordance with the management committee, the Nurseries policies, and the statutory requirements.




RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• To support staff in the process of setting up the activities and games
• To support staff in actively encouraging children and ensuring that the appropriate measures are taken for optimal development such as setting tasks for individual children to meet in a time frame
• To ensure that by all staff, to a high standard
• To ensure that observations of children are completed as well as to a high standard by all staff
• To support staff in completing the necessary paperwork and keeping it organised as well as setting targets for individual children to develop fully
• To provide a summary of the cohort every 8-weeks (following the monitoring of all observations, learning journals and planning)
• To support staff in speaking with parents and suggesting ways that they can incorporate learning at home
• To report and discuss with the Manager any observations or personal insight about the children such as Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in the children's development
• To work co-operatively with, and support all staff, volunteers and students
• To adhere to the policies and procedures of Windmill Day Nursery such as keeping any information confidential
• To undertake other duties in the role that may be assigned by the manager from time to time


SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
• Good communication skills with adults and a natural affinity with young children
• To work as part of a team and support colleagues
• To work flexibly, for example helping to provide cover in case of sickness in a colleague
• Be prepared to undertake such training to benefit either the individual or the group as a whole
• To be a good role model for the children and the staff at all times
