Nurseries - How you can support the campaign

As a nursery practitioner, you provide support every day. You inspire children to achieve, enjoy, be curious and find wonder in their day to day experiences. Reassuring, providing additional support and encouragement - whether it is counting to ten, writing their name or reading their first words. You make a difference because you help children feel safe and valued while they explore and accomplish!

These words sum up for one childcarer what they feel about their profession - "I have spent my working life being happy and interested in my occupation and I still wouldn't want to do anything else."

Your job is more than a job, it is a vocation. Working in childcare is demanding, it's hard work and hours can often be very long but the rewards are many when you see what a difference you are making to the children you look after and their families.

Tinies Childcare is in a unique position to raise awareness of the large number of opportunities for employment in the childcare industry as we have over 30 childcare recruitment agencies across the UK and would welcome the opportunity to work with Nursery practitioners to help raise awareness of the opportunities that exist for people once qualified to work in our industry. We feel it would be particularly useful to engage with students in Year 8 and Year 9 and the respective years for students in Scotland, to make them aware of the opportunities that exist in the childcare industry before they take their final study options.

Many young people have little or no idea about the exciting range of careers in childcare. Can you help us change this? We are appealing to nursery settings across the UK for support from any of their nursery practitioners who would be willing to volunteer to attend School Occupational health talks or careers events either alone or with us within their local community, so that students may hear first hand about the rewards and demands of working in the industry.

Tinies are also looking at offering a number of work experience opportunities thrugh our Tinies Recruitment agencies. We are also hoping to encourage more nursery settings to offer work experience opportunities to students (guidance on work experience is available through Fair Train who are the national experts on work experience and who own the national work experience quality standard accreditation).

Supporting this initiative will also provide opportunities for personal development which in turn may also provide settings with a potential tick in the box for initiative in this area in any future Ofsted Inspections.

Tinies have a variety of resources available to us across our network and around our core business, so we would like to work with you to identify select events or opportunities where we could start to make a difference to the future of childcare too, as well as the children you look after.

Please feel free to download from our campaign marketing page a "We are inspiring a future in childcare" campaign poster and website banners which you can use to promote awareness of the campaign.

Take the next step to Inspiring a Future in Childcare

In addition, as part of the Tinies Childcare campaign we have teamed up with the Education and Employers Charity. Their offering is simple - volunteer for as little as one hour a year to talk to young people about your career in a school or college near you. We are in a sector where caring is part of our DNA and we know that if we collaborate we can make a difference and hopefully with your support will inspire people to consider a career in the childcare industry too.

Inspiring the Future is a free online service that connects thousands of schools with volunteers from Apprentices to CEOs. Volunteers from all regions of the UK have pledged to give just one hour per year to speak to young people about their job, or career. Volunteers and schools are connected securely online, with volunteers receiving invites from local schools and colleges to see if they can support activities during the academic year.

I have really enjoyed my employment with Tinies. The staff were really helpful and understanding. I would definitely recommend Tinies to my friends or anyone interested in nanny work.
