Finding Flexible Childcare Work: Maureen’s Decade with Tinies

The Story

Maureen, a qualified childcarer, registered with Tinies Glasgow when she moved from Ireland to Scotland. She came to Tinies with a wealth of experience in Early Years and wanted to find work in the industry as quickly as possible.

The Challenge

Maureen first joined the agency looking for a full-time permanent role as a nanny but was finding that these roles were few and far between in her area. She worried that even if she took on a permanent part-time role then she would still need to work another job to pay the bills. But how could she be sure to get this extra work?

The Solution

One of the first permanent nanny roles that Maureen found through Tinies was working for a family with parents who both worked on a shift pattern. This meant that her shifts would vary significantly from month to month. But this was no longer a worry for Maureen as she knew that she would be able to supplement these hours with our temporary work which included nursery work, babysitting, event childcare and nanny roles on both a permanent and temporary basis.

Over the years, her job requirements have changed and Tinies have adapted and supported her throughout. The flexibility of the work has been absolutely crucial to Maureen, particularly during some difficult personal times. Maureen is currently working on a regular basis for one of our nursery clients. She loves that she is guaranteed these hours every week and has continuity with both the children and staff in the setting. Yet, she also has the flexibility she needs and the ability to be more child-focused rather than worrying about completing some paperwork.
