Full Time Deputy Manager Job in Buckinghamshire

Job description

 
This is a supernumery management role.
The Deputy Manager will need to deputise for the Manager, in the Managers absence. At all other times, they will help lead the nursery, adhering to all the policies and practises, and acting as a role mode and point of guidance for the staff team.

Responsibilities include:

•To work in partnership with and supporting the Nursery Manager to ensure the smooth daily running and administration of the nursery, adhering to the Policies & Procedures and compliance with the Children Act, Health and Safety legislation and within the guidelines of Ofsted and the National Standards.
•To lead all staff in the absence of the manager and perform all the duties of the manager, keeping within all the policies, procedures and ethos.
•To lead a team of staff to ensure a safe, happy, stimulating environment is provided for all children.
•To ensure good practices, planning and assessment of all children in the rooms. To ensure the smooth running of the daily practices, ensuring practices and policies are followed, including ensuring paperwork is completed to a good standard.
•To ensure all children receive quality care and their development is suitably promoted.
•To ensure the rooms operate to the required high standards of care and quality, supporting the room leaders. To continuously promote the staff team's effectiveness and standards of care, offering ongoing support, advice and guidance.
•To assist in and support the induction, supervision and appraisal of practitioners, as delegated by the Manager.
•To hold a key if requested, and take responsibility for opening and locking up of the nursery in accordance with opening hours, where requested by the manager. Ensure all security systems are turned on and off as necessary.
•To attend and contribute to regular management meetings and participate in staff meetings.
•To provide feedback to the Nursery Manager and Proprietor, including comprehensive information having deputised.
•To address staff and parent queries and ensure parents feel welcome in the nursery at all times.
•To ensure all Safeguarding & Welfare practices and requirements are met and implemented by all staff.
•To assist in ensuring all accidents, incidents and risk assessment forms are kept and monitored.
•To fulfil all health and safety responsibilities, including acting as a 'fire marshal' during fire evacuation procedures.
•To promote equal opportunities for all children and staff with regard to their religious per-suasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background; in particular, challenging situations where racism or discrimination are displayed. Report all incidents to the Nursery Manager or named Inclusion Officer.
•To assist the Nursery Manager, participating in the arrangement of regular parents' evenings, events and children's outings.
•To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager.


Person Specification

•To have a Level 3 or above Childcare Qualification
•Current First Aid Certificate (for children/ adults)
•Current Safeguarding Children Certificate

Experience

•To have a minimum of five years of experience of caring for young children (with at least 2 years specific experience of caring for babies) ensuring good, appropriate behaviour and offering high quality provision, care and delivering high standards of learning and development .
•To have a minimum of two years of experience of working with and/ or leading other adults in a team.
•To have experience of implementing the EYFS.
•To have experience of developing staff/ giving training.
•To have experience of implementing core policies, such as Safeguarding, Equality and Health and Safety.
•To have experience of implementing the SEN code of practice, social services policies and practices.
