Job description
Do you hold a level 3 or above childcare qualification?
Are you looking for a senior role in a nursery?
A large and busy nursery in Robroyston are looking for a fun and friendly room leader who understands how to care for the youngest children in the nursery to a high standard. You will be required to lead and motivate a team of nursery practitioners and build great relationships with the children's' families to ensure you meet their needs and follow their own routines. This is a full time role where team work is a must and as room leader you will become part of the management team. You will be a designated key holder and be responsible for either opening or closing the building dependant on your shift pattern.
The ideal candidate will have-
Two years or more post-qualification practical experience
Experience of working in more than one childcare setting
Experience of leading a playroom
Experience of mentoring Modern Apprentices
Experience of working within internal nursery committees/groups
Experience of working with regulatory and partner organisations during inspections/visits
Experience of cash handling
Education/Qualifications/Training Essential
Qualification to meet the requirements of SSSC registration for Practitioner
SVQ3 or HNC in Childcare/Education
First Aid qualification
Health & Safety qualification
Personal Qualities Essential
Friendly nature with an upbeat, positive disposition and a sense of humour. You must have the ability to adapt your approach dependant on the situation and child
Leadership skills that allow you to integrate quickly into the existing team whilst gaining respect and building rapport with colleagues and direct reports
Highly effective communicator who is able to adapt content and delivery in line with the person/situation
Customer orientated with the ability to meet customer care needs and challenges
Act as a positive ambassador for personal presentation, including being clean, tidy and presentable
Knowledge and Skills Essential
Knowledge of relevant legislation and the ability to implement related guidelines
Demonstrable knowledge of promoting a positive environment
Sound knowledge of curricular planning and practice
Up to date working knowledge of procedures relating to Child Protection, GIRFEC, Additional Support Needs, Equal Opportunities and Child Development
Knowledge of the behaviour characteristics and needs of children at all ages to ensure child development
Ability to positively motivate children, families and staff
Proven ability of sound organisational and skills administrative skills
Ability to use computer packages (all Microsoft)
Ability to retain confidentiality
Special Requirements Essential
Adherence to the SSSC Code to Conduct
Able to accommodate the flexible working hours that may be required
