Full Time Nursery Manager Job in Buckinghamshire

Job description

 
•Ensuring a high standard of physical, personal, emotional, social care and education for all children in the nursery
•Leading the team of nursery nurses and room managers; setting the direction for the setting in the short, medium and longer term, and supervising and supporting the team to ensure the highest standards of practice day to day
•The day-to-day management of the nursery including quality improvement, administration, communication as required.

Key responsibilities

•To fulfil the aims and objectives of the nursery as set out by the Company Directors and the setting's policies and procedures
•To promote the ethos and high standards of the nursery at all times to staff, parents and visitors
•To ensure the provision of high standards of physical, personal, social and emotional care for every child at the setting
•To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history
•To provide all team members with the support and resources required for the early identification and intervention for children with possible special needs
•To ensure that staff are safeguarding trained, and that you, along with all managers, receive annual Safeguarding Designated Officer Training
•To lead a staff team towards the mission of outstanding care for all, with responsibility for all nursery staff and their respective roles including nursery nurses, room managers, cooks, cleaners, students and voluntary workers
•Supervising and supporting all members of the nursery team in their day-to-day duties including recruitment and induction, appraisals and reviews, 1 to 1's, training and development, individual supervision and discipline
•To plan, organise and record staffing schedules, holiday rotas, sickness and training in conjunction with weekly attendance records to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with Ofsted
•To ensure the setting has a high proportion of staff first aid trained
•To be responsible for the recruitment plan for new staff when needed. This includes Job description creation, interview selection process and agency liaison
•To act in accordance with current legislation, best practice, nursery policies and procedures and to ensure that new legislation and guidance is identified in a timely manner, communicated to staff and implemented through amendments to policies and procedures as needed

Experience required:

•Demonstrate clear evidence/experience of managing a setting, desirably one that was rated OFSTED outstanding
•Expert knowledge of the OFSTED Framework, Early Years requirements and legislation
•Thorough understanding of the EYFS, keyworker role, tracking, planning cycle and high-quality observations
•Minimum of Level 3 qualification is required. EYP status or an Early Years degree are desirable
•Safeguarding Designated Officer trained
•Thorough knowledge of SEND (SENCO trained is desirable)
•First aid trained (or has been in the past)
•Experience and/ or training/ qualifications in childcare related subjects is desirable e.g. Behaviour, SALLY, PALS, Equal Opps, Food Hygiene
•Clear and concise communications through multiple media (conversation, written etc)
•Passionate and inspirational, a self-starting individual with the highest standards and a rigorous determination to meet them
•Excellent conflict management experience
•Instrumental in setting direction through the creation of a Quality improvement plan
•Results driven
•Strong Microsoft Office skills especially Word and Excel)
•Excellent presentation skills (audio & face to face)
•Written skills - concise, appropriate and to the point
