Deputy Nursery Manager

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to support the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring outstanding care, compliance, and leadership. You’ll work alongside the Nursery Manager and lead the team to deliver a high-quality early years environment where children thrive.
Salary: £28,000 gross per annum
Holiday: 32 days per annum
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Support the Nursery Manager, Area Manager, and Directors in all operational aspects.
Step up in the Manager’s absence, ensuring smooth daily running.
Implement and monitor EYFS, safeguarding, and health & safety standards.
Uphold and embed all nursery policies, including GDPR and safeguarding.
Lead on staff inductions, appraisals, development, and performance.
Oversee staffing schedules, registers, and deployment for compliance.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Operational & Financial Oversight
Support with financial tasks such as invoicing, petty cash, and fee monitoring.
Maintain accurate records (attendance, equipment, incidents, etc.).
Ensure all areas of the nursery meet high hygiene and safety standards.
Manage absence cover and assist with recruitment and succession planning.
Help with nursery marketing, parent engagement, and inspections (Ofsted, LA, etc.).
Learning & Development
Ensure high-quality teaching aligned with EYFS and individual learning needs.
Support key workers and oversee planning, observations, and assessments.
Use data and Tapestry to track progress, identify gaps, and enhance outcomes.
Promote an inclusive learning environment that reflects cultural capital and diversity.
Monitor and evaluate learning displays and classroom environments.
People & Relationships
Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and external agencies.
Chair or support regular team meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
Lead by example, promoting a positive, respectful, and inclusive team culture.
