A new exciting opportunity for a Nursery Manager near Tewkesbury in a rural location on a farm.
About us:
This is a family-run partnership of rural businesses based near Tewkesbury, operating across Worcestershire and Gloucestershire, employing a team of 50 collaborative, experienced professionals across many sectors.
Our businesses include an award-winning farm, property rental, a build and joinery enterprise, garden team, flexible rural workspace and Overbury Grasshoppers Nursery — a small, independent, purpose-built early years nursery rooted in outdoor learning and sustainability, which has been running since 2009.
The Opportunity:
Our Nursery offers an exceptional start to life for children, with an ethos centred around nature, outdoor learning, farm-to-fork food principles, and a close-knit community feel.
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced Nursery Manager to lead and further develop this highly-rated nursery, which is currently fully subscribed with 34 spaces yet has capacity for more, and was rated ‘Good’ in the recent OFSTED inspection. It is adjacent to the village first school and has its own cook and kitchen.
The role offers the rare opportunity to manage and shape a unique setting that integrates farm life and outdoor education into everyday learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire a passionate, close-knit team in delivering exceptional early years education, aligned with EYFS standards.
Maintain compliance with safeguarding and operational policies.
Drive continuous improvement while preserving the warmth and independence of the nursery.
Embed outdoor learning, nature experiences, and food education into the curriculum.
Engage with parents and the broader community effectively.
Work closely with the wider team, including finance and estate managers, who provide strong operational support.
Essential:
Minimum Level 5 qualification in Early Years Education (Level 3 acceptable with significant management experience, but Level 5+ preferred).
Proven experience as a nursery manager or a deputy manager ready to step up.
Deep passion for outdoor learning, sustainability, and nature based education.
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively in a rural, community-focused environment.
Desirable:
Experience managing independent or small, private nursery settings.
Knowledge of integrating outdoor/agricultural experiences into early years education.
Package and Benefits:
Competitive salary £35,000+ gross per annum dependent on experience.
Potential accommodation provided within the idyllic Cotswold countryside.
Supportive, community-driven working environment.
Opportunities for innovation and personal leadership growth.
Work-life balance focus.
Ideal Candidate Style:
We are looking for someone dynamic, hands-on, and creative, who loves the outdoors and is passionate about allowing children to experience nature and sustainable living first-hand. Someone who values community, independence, and innovation will thrive.
