Job Overview: As a Nursery Practitioner, you will play a fundamental role in the development and care of young children. This nursery group is recruiting for all their settings located in Hillington, Govan, Stirling, Falkirk and Alloa. You will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and develop their social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Child Care and Development:
• Provide high-quality care and supervision for children aged 0-5 years.
• Foster children's physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and learning experiences.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for children at all times.
2. Curriculum and Lesson Planning:
• Collaborate with other nursery staff to create and implement educational programs.
• Develop lesson plans that support children's learning through play, exploration, and structured activities.
• Tailor activities to meet the individual needs and interests of each child.
3. Parent and Guardian Communication:
• Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians.
• Provide regular updates on children's progress and daily activities.
• Address any concerns or questions from parents in a professional and empathetic manner.
4. Health and Safety:
• Ensure that all safety and hygiene standards are met, including food preparation and sanitation.
• Administer basic first aid when necessary and promptly report any accidents or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
• Promote good hygiene practices among children.
5. Record Keeping:
• Maintain accurate records of children's development, activities, and any incidents.
• Complete required paperwork and documentation for each child, including assessments and progress reports.
6. Teamwork:
• Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and cohesive work environment.
• Share ideas, resources, and best practices to improve the nursery's programs and operations.
7. Professional Development:
• Stay current on early childhood education best practices, regulations, and trends through training and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain the necessary qualifications and certifications as required by local regulations.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of a SCQF Level 7 in Social Services (CYP) qualification.
• First Aid certification.
• SSSC registration.
• Experience working with young children in a nursery, preschool, or daycare setting is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
• Good knowledge of Curriculum For Excellence and Realising The Ambition and all other relevant Early Years Framework and legislations.
Working Conditions: Full-time work, with rotas that may include early mornings and evenings. The work environment includes a combination of indoor and outdoor activities.
