Nursery Room Leader

Job Description

  • A nursery in Milton Keynes is looking for a Room Leader to join their team!

    40 hours per week on a rota

    Salary: Starting at £12.50 per hour (dependant on qualifications)


    Role & Responsibilities:

    Childcare

    · Work in collaboration with the management team in delivering high quality childcare

    · Be a strong role model for the staff in the room and within the nursery, which includes training, guiding,

    mentoring and giving regular feedback to staff

    · Promote our values and ethos to ensure a child-centred, safe and stimulating environment is provided

    whilst meeting the individual needs of every child.

    · Ensure that all aspects of the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage and Welfare

    requirements are delivered to the highest standard.

    · Deliver a robust Key Person approach, and develop professional and trusting relationships with children

    and parents. Room Leaders are responsible in ensuring all children are assigned a Key Person, that staff

    understand the role of the Key Person and its duties, and that parents are informed of Key Person

    · Maintain procedures for review and assessment of each child’s progress within the room, which includes

    ensuring all staff carry out regular observations and assessments of all key children in the room.

    · Ensuring a robust planning system is in place for all children in the room, which reflects children’s

    developmental needs and interests to ensure children are always being developed

    · Take accountability of role modelling and empowering your staff team to deliver high standards of childcare

    whilst complying with all aspects of the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage and Welfare

    requirements.


    Shared Duties and Responsibilities on a Daily/ Weekly/ Monthly basis:

    · Take lead in a professional capacity with the staff in the room by giving direction, delegating tasks, and ensuring staff complete daily targets

    · Ensure the room is set up with activities that reflect the children’s emerging needs and interests and is relevant to their age in stage

    · Ensure the room is safe and is regularly risk assessed, and task staff with health and safety actions (cleaning up room, toys, floors, toilets, etc)

    · Ensure the room’s daily routine is being adhered to by all staff

    · Ensure all paperwork is filled in and signed and reported to management (accident forms, incidents, medicine forms) on a daily basis where needed

    · Ensure the Key Person approach is strong, all staff that are Key Persons should be spending time with their key children creating activities for them, tracking their development, and planning is done for children. Parents will need to be made aware of the Key Person approach.

    · To assist in the support, mentoring, coaching and training of the room staff

    · Ensure children’s planning is up to date each week and all children are being planned for on a weekly basis, and ensure all staff have contributed to the planning for their Key Children

    · To support the manager in dealing with enquiries/ tours of the nursery

    · Ensure observations/assessments on Iconnect are published daily/weekly/monthly

    · Ensure you take lead in ensuring all staff in the room understand nursery policies and procedures

    · Ensure the room has an Action Plan which documents areas of improvements, and action on these to make the room better. Update this monthly

    · To participate in and contribute to regular staff meetings, supervision (with manager) and training. This includes holding a room meeting with your staff to discuss areas of improvements needed
