Job Description

  • Job Title: Qualified Early Years Practitioner

    Reports to: Room Leader

    3 or 4 days a week

    Pay rate £12.90-£14 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience

    Job Purpose:

    The role of the Early Years Educator is to provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can thrive and to deliver high standards of childcare and education.

    To meet the requirements of the EYFS and Statutory Framework at all times.

    Summary of Responsibilities

    Childcare

    • Ensuring all areas of the EYFS and Statutory Framework are met at all times.

    • Read and adhere to all nursery policies.

    • Ensuring Safeguarding/Child Protection Policies and Procedures are implemented.

    • Report any safeguarding concerns to your DSL

    • Provide a safe and stimulating environment for the children, taking children’s individual needs into consideration.

    • Ensuring the nursery offers an environment which reflects the cultural diversity of all children.

    • Follow Observation, Planning and Assessment Framework.

    • Reflect on daily practise and identify areas for continuous improvement.

    • Build and maintain effective partnerships with parents.

    • To be the key person for a designated group of children.

    • Provide daily care to meet the basic needs of the children; Sleeps, nappies, clean clothes, wiping noses, washing hands, quiet time in the story corner.

    • Promoting independence of the children and encouraging a can do attitude.

    • Reinforce positive behaviour and model good practice so the children feel valued, begin to understand emotions and respect each other.

    • Ensure the setting is high-quality that is inclusive to all.

    • Have awareness and support any medical background or needs of the children in your care.

    Health & Safety

    • Respond to, and report health and safety issues as and when they arise.

    • Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness/tidiness within the nursery

    • Carrying out health and safety checks in line with Company Policy.

    • Follow control measures detailed within Company Risk Assessments.

    • Remove and report identified hazards/risks.

    • Record all accidents, incidents and medications on the appropriate forms.

    • Administer first aid where required to the children, staff or visitors.

    General

    • Responsible for duties associated with the nursery playroom(s), such as maintaining children’s records and any other duties as reasonably requested.

    • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.

    • To meet deadlines as set by the Company.

    • Attend out of work hours meetings, such as training, staff meetings, parents evening and social gatherings.

    • Engage in good team work and positive communications

    • Work alongside the team and setting management team to ensure the nursery philosophy and ethos is fulfilled and delivered

    • Be aware we are a high profile setting and uphold the standard at all times, both in and put of working hours.
