Senior Early Years Lead

Job Description

  • A friendly nursery school in Northampton (NN5) is recruiting for a Senior Early Years Lead to join their experienced team.

    The role is to assist the Executive Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and the management team with the leadership and management, and daily operation of the nursery provision.

    This would suit a person who has held senior roles within early years settings and is experienced in developing and supporting children's early learning, ensuring there is continuity and high quality.

    This role is a full time, all year round position working 37 hours per week on a shift pattern of 8:00am – 4:15pm and 9.45am – 6:00pm.

    Duties for this Senior Early Year Lead role include:

    • To support the school's leadership team in ensuring high quality education and care services are maintained

    • To contribute to the growth and development of EYE’s and EYP’s knowledge of child development and teaching practices

    • To contribute to the enhancement of early education and childcare for children 0 to 5 through effective planning, evaluation and assessment of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for children's learning in the nursery

    • In conjunction with the Management team develop and implement weekly and daily plans which ensure the highest quality learning and teaching environment

    • To be a named Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the setting. To implement policies, and ensure procedures and practice, to safeguard children

    • To assist with recruiting and selecting, and retention of nursery staff

    • To assist the SENCO with observations, assessments and nursery school action plans for children with special educational needs

    • In conjunction with the Deputy Head Teacher ensure professional development plans are in place

    • To provide regular supervision and support staff well-being

    • To provide reports and updates to Governors and the leadership team

    • To oversee the assessments, planning and reports process to share with parents and the leadership team.

    • To plan and co-ordinate teaching and learning observations and professional development meetings to coach EYE’s and EYO’s

    • To contribute to and implement all nursery policies and procedures and ensure the welfare of the children is paramount

    • To keep your knowledge of current working practices and regulations up to date

    To apply for this Senior Early Years role candidates must have:

    Level 5/6 relevant Education degree with minimum of a full and relevant Level 3 in Early Education or Early Years Teacher Status or working towards this

    • Experience in Nursery, Schools or settings – 3 yrs minimum

    • Leading and line managing a team of Early Years colleagues

    • Experience of supporting children with special educational needs or disabilities

    • Leading curriculum

    • Up to date knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage

    • Knowledge and understanding of a range of teaching methods

    • Knowledge and understanding of assessment procedures in the Early Years Foundation Stage

    • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes and procedures

    • Knowledge of Ofsted Inspection Framework and the process of Self Evaluation

    • Good ICT competency

    • Ability to use own initiative and make sound judgement

    • Paediatric first aid and safeguarding training. (Tinies can assist)

    • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service. (Tinies can assist)

    • The right to work in the UK

    • Candidates must be able to provide employer / education referees covering the last 5 years and be able to explain any gaps

    The salary being offered is £33,699 - £37,280 gross per annum.
