Senior Nursery Practitioner – Orpington (BR6)

Job Description

  • This nursery is a brand new setting, offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Practitioner to join right from the start. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping shape the nursery’s culture, routines, and high standards of care as it opens its doors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact, take on added responsibility, and support practitioners across all rooms as the setting grows.

    What we can offer you (benefits):

    • 40 hours per week, all year round
    • Shifts between 7:45am – 6:15pm
    • Access to PerkBox after 6-month probation

    What we need from you:

    • Level 3 Early Years qualification (minimum)
    • Proven experience working in an early years setting
    • Strong knowledge of the EYFS and child development
    • Confident leader with excellent communication skills
    • Proactive, organised, and able to support staff across all age groups
    • Passionate about creating a warm, inspiring environment in a new nursery

    Your duties will include:

    • Lead high-quality practice across the room, ensuring routines, activities, and learning opportunities align with the EYFS
    • Mentor and support practitioners, offering guidance, role modelling, and direction
    • Build strong, positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
    • Support planning, observations, and accurate assessment of children’s development
    • Contribute to maintaining a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment
    • Take responsibility for safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance within your room
    • Assist with daily routines including mealtimes, personal care, and transitions
    • Work collaboratively within a small team caring for 24–28 children
