Nanny - CULLERCOATS

Job Description

  • Part Time Nanny CULLERCOATS

A professional couple based in Cullercoats, North Shields, seek a part time permanent nanny to care for their children 3 days a week.

The family home is located in close proximity to beach, with excellent sea views. The boys are aged 2 and 5 years, and enjoy spending time outdoors and being active. The ideal nanny will therefore be outdoorsy and full of exciting ideas to entertain the children, making the most of the fantastic beach close by, local play areas and family garden. They will like finding activities and creating games for the children to enjoy together as well as be confident in helping with homework projects and reading with the eldest, or finding ways to support learning through play, number and letter recognition and similar for the youngest. Whilst enthusiasm, fun and energy are key attributes for the nanny, this will be balanced with the ability to be calm and create time for relaxation and rest, alongside a loving and kind personality. They will be extremely reliable and an excellent communicator, as they will be relied on for care of the children as a primary caregiver whilst parents are working.

The ideal Nanny will be a warm and passionate childcarer, fully focussed on providing the best care and supervision of both children, with the ability to blend into family life to work in harmony at home and to work around parents' busy professional schedules. Parents are required to work the later end of the day, and may work from home or away on occasion. The nanny should therefore be confident and flexible to offer both sole charge and shared care with parents as needed.

The family have flexibility to consider the following options:

Option A: Nanny for afternoon/evenings only. 3 days a week 2-7pm (or 4-7pm if you prefer as are in school during day) Mon to Wed, with some flexibility to offer other hours of care in holidays. The children will be in preschool/school during the day. This option may suit a Teaching Assistant or similar looking for more hours.

Option B: Nanny Housekeeper for 3 full days 9am - 7pm Mon to Wed. (30 hours/week) This role will be a mixture of childcare with the youngest at home more instead of preschool, plus helping around the home with errands and housekeeping as needed.

The family have a pet cat, however they tends to choose to relax hidden away in the quieter ends of the house. The nanny will need to be a driver preferably with their own car and a non-smoker/vaper.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Organisation and general cleaning of the children's laundry, belongings and areas
    • Collecting the children from School (walking distance) / Nursery (driving distance)
    • Preparing Healthy Snacks
    • Help with homework and afterschool activities
    • Making the most of outdoors, playing games and having fun on the beach
    • Meal preparation, helping with Dinner supervision, and keeping the kitchen in order,
    • Evening routines including bathing and getting ready for bed
    • Organising children's items for the next day
    • Keeping the children well entertained, safe and happy
    • Planning activities in the holidays and following daily routines for the family
    • Collaborating and communicating effectively with parents and sharing information about the children's day, development and celebrating achievements
    • Open to an odd babysitting evening/weekend by mutual agreement on occasion

The family are interested to hear from an experienced Nanny who is looking for a long-term commitment, who has been in similar positions before. A junior nanny may be considered if they hold the desirable qualities alongside several years relevant experience in early years settings, with demonstrable levels of responsibility and maturity.

    Applicants should have:

    - Enhanced DBS for childcare workforce (we can support you to obtain this if not held)

    - Paediatric First Aid (we can support you to obtain this if not held)

    - Sole Charge Experience (or demonstrable experience in early years or school provision at a responsible level)

    - Early Years Qualification desirable

Usual working days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (extra hours may be available by mutual agreement)
Usual working hours: see options above
    Start: September 2025

Please send a full copy of your current CV to apply for this position to Kate at northeast@tinies.com stating clearly the hours you are looking for, or contact us if you would like to discuss the role in more detail.
