Enhanced Nanny DBS Check (formerly CRB Check) / PVG Check

Any parent who is employing someone to look after their child wants the peace of mind that an enhanced background check for nannies can bring

We regularly complete these employment screening background checks for our own candidates and so can provide this for you, guiding you through the process with ease.

Please note that nanny CRB checks are now known as DBS checks (Disclosure and Barring Service).

To initiate the police criminal record check you will need to provide us with your name, contact details and postcode (and those of your nanny).

As with all our Nanny Screening Services this can be purchased individually or as a combination bundle.

Background checks are serviced by your local Tinies agency

A local Tinies team member will contact you to start your nanny background check. They will ask you for the nanny's name, telephone number and email address so that they can invite her in to verify her documents, so please prepare your nanny for this phone call.

What happens next?

Once this meeting has been completed the enhanced nanny DBS check (formerly nanny CRB check) will be processed into the DBS or PVG (for Scotland only) system and your employment background check will be underway.

Your local Tinies branch will monitor its progress through the system and inform you by email of the outcome as soon as possible. It is against data protection for a copy of the disclosure to be given to you but your nanny will receive a copy to her home address and Tinies can divulge to you if the nanny check is clean.

Differences in the Scottish PVG Check system

The system is slightly different if you are based in Scotland although all of the information required is the same. Here a PVG Scheme Record can be applied for which will show if your nanny is barred from working with children along with any convictions, cautions and other relevant information held by police forces.

A Scheme record has to be counter signed by an organisation such as Tinies and cannot be applied for as an individual. This system allows Tinies to be informed if any activity in the future, by your nanny, affects her suitability to work with children.

So not only do you get an indication of suitability at the time but you can also have the peace of mind that should anything happen in the future, Tinies will be informed through the PVG scheme and that information will be passed on to you. Once an individual has a Scheme Record for working with children, updates can be requested through Tinies at any time.

The nanny provided by Tinies was very punctual (early in fact), and had lots of energy. She seemed to have plenty of experience and was happy to take my kids to the park for hours.
