Our Favourite Father's Day Crafts
It's Father's Day on Sunday, and time to start making plans for what to do to make the day special for the father figure in your life. We have some ideas for gifts you can easily make with your children
Celebrated for over 100 years, Father's Day is a time to appreciate and honour the fathers, grandfathers, fathers-in-law and father figures in our lives and communities.
Father's Day is a great opportunity to spoil the special man (or men) in your family - if the weather is nice why not treat him to a special day out doing some of his favourite activities as a family, go on a picnic, or have a barbeque?
If you're planning on giving him a gift to go with his Father's Day card, we've found some ideas for crafts you can make with your children that any dad would be happy to receive.
Lego key holder
Some dads are more forgetful than others, but we guarantee that all dads will appreciate this do-it-yourself Lego key holder. Wheter you use Lego that you already have, or order a few pieces online, this present is cheap, easy, and the best part is that you can customize it to suit dad's interests! As a bonus, this present will ensure that you'll no longer have to help dad look for his keys again.
Coffee cozy
Whether dad likes coffee or tea in the morning, he will appreciate a home-made cozy telling him how special he is - and keeping his hands from burning. With a little help, children from the age of six and older should be able to have fun making this. Younger children who can't yet use a needle can be included by decorating the cozy with fabric glue and plastic beads. To make the present extra special, present the cozy on a cup, and hide a thoughtful present - for example a bag of his favourite coffee or tea - inside it.
String art decoration
Help your children create a special decoration for dad's office or bedroom using either his initials or a short word - dad for example. This is a craft for children of all ages - and adults might enjoy helping out too! Try experimenting with threads in different colours, and let your children paint the plywood in dad's favourite colour. An adult or an older child should help nail the nails into the plywood.
Bottle cap magnets
A fridge can never have too many magnets, and what better way to use the left over bottle caps of dad's favourite brew than to make them into personalised magnets? Other magnet ideas are vintage bottle caps from thrift stores, using bottle caps to frame pictures, or any spare change you might have from traveling.
Pepperoni pizza ribbon

A gift and a meal in one, this 'craft' will delight any dad that appreciates a tasty pizza, as well as any family members who are lucky enough to get to share it with him. Cover it with his favourite topping, whether it's peperoni, bacon, sausage or something completely different. Served up for lunch, dinner, or as a snack, we guarantee that this pizza will delight a hungry dad. Or if your dad is more into sweet than savoury, why not make him a creative cake?
